Litter C4 - 2 girls available
Melanie had an emergency cesarean on a public holiday (Labour Day) because she had an unusual large litter of 11 (supposed to be 12 because there was a stillborn due to lack of space for it to grow). The 4th kitten was stuck for hours so we rang our vet. We’re beyond thankful to our incredible vet, who opened their doors to us when we felt hopeless. Thanks to their swift action and dedication, the rest of the kittens were saved. We can’t thank them enough for their care and compassion in such a critical situation.
Sadly we lost the kitten who was stuck (a cream bicolour!) and maybe the kitten behind him (also a cream bicolour!), and the stillborn who stopped growing midway through the pregnancy, we still have 9! It was very stressful to have such a big litter. We are really grateful to have so much support from our breeder friends who gave us advice and a friend even offered a foster cat mum. I slept beside them on the sofa for a whole week to feed, take records & monitor them. There were countless times that I had to save a screaming kitten trapped under the mum who was too busy to care or too tired to move. Some kittens struggled a whole week before they started to gain weight by themselves.
We want to share the story with you, because this does not happen on every litter, but it is a typical episode on the breeding journey. There are so much hard work, so many people behind this beautiful litter and their contribution need to be recognised and to be seen.
